TeenTober is a nationwide celebration hosted by libraries every October to promote teen services, encourage lifelong learning, and highlight the innovative ways libraries support teens. Created by YALSA (Young Adult Library Services Association), TeenTober empowers teens to discover new interests, connect with their community, and explore creative expression.

South Park Library’s TeenTober Events

We’re celebrating TeenTober with hands-on programs, creative workshops, cozy movie nights, and fun drop-in activities designed for tweens and teens. Our TeenTober flyer is featured below!

All TeenTober programs are free. Registration is required for each event.

TeenTober Events

  • October 1–31 — Spooky Drop-In Crafts (Tweens & Teens)
    Celebrate TweenTober with rotating drop-in crafts in the teen area:
    Oct 1–10: Yarn Pumpkins
    Oct 12–24: Creepy Crawly Spider Crafts
    Oct 26–31: Paper Straw Monsters
  • October 1 — Pumpkin Decorating Contest (Teens Only)
    Drop-in or take-home. Design a book-themed pumpkin at the library or pick one up to decorate at home. Pumpkins will be displayed for community voting, and the winner receives a $25 gift card.
  • October 10 — Casper & Crafts: A Ghostly TeenTober Night (Tweens & Teens)
    5:30 PM – 7:30 PM. Cozy screening of Casper (PG) with ghost-themed crafts, snacks, and seasonal fun.
  • October 15 — Ghostly Gingerbread House Decorating (Tweens & Teens)
    Drop-in | 5:30 PM – 7 PM. Build and decorate haunted gingerbread houses using graham crackers, frosting, sprinkles, and candy.
  • October 21 & October 29 — Spider Soap Making (Tweens & Teens)
    Drop-in | 5:30 PM – 7 PM. Create spooky melt-and-pour soap with colorants and a tiny spider embed. Make two soaps to take home.
  • October 24 — Till Death Do Us Art: Corpse Bride & Haunted Dioramas (Teens Only)
    5:30 PM – 7:30 PM. After-hours screening of Corpse Bride (PG) with gothic diorama crafting. Pizza, snacks, and beverages served.
  • October 28 — Haunted House LEGO Challenge (Tweens & Teens)
    6 PM – 7 PM. Build a haunted house, creepy creature, or anything spooky using LEGO bricks.
