Please consult this page FIRST if you are curious about signing up for one of our many Computer Classes.

How do I sign up for a Computer Class?

Either stop by the library or call us at (412) 833-5585 to sign up. We will need your name and phone number. You must sign up or we cannot admit you to the class!

Are the Classes Free?

Yes, all computer classes are free to the public.

Where do these classes take place?

Most of our computer classes will take place at the computer station behind the glass in the back of the library, unless otherwise noted.

Do I need to bring anything to class?

You will need to have an active library card to log on to the computers and a willingness to learn. We have had patrons in the past bring their laptops with them to class, in the past, which can be helpful as long as you have the program/operating system that we will be discussing.

Patrons may also bring in their tablets or e-Reader devices with them for classes such as our e-Books & e-Readers class.

What happens if there are more people in a class than available computers?

Because the library has a limited number of computers, we ask that patrons attending classes double up and share the computers. It's also recommended that all patrons that have signed up for the computer class arrive at the library early so they can use one of the computers.

How many people can sign up for one class?


Since the computer classes are a public service of the library, we encourage as many patrons as possible to sign up for each class. The maximum amount of people we accept in a single class is **fourteen (14) people**. If anyone signs up after the fourteen (14) person limit, they will be placed on a waiting list. The total number of people varies from class to class. **The one exception is the "E-Books & E-Readers" class, where there is a limit of seven (7) people.**

When will (insert name of Computer Class here) be offered again?

Each month, we rotate through our list of active classes. After we get approval for our list of classes, we will post that information on our website, on library flyers and in the ParkNews at the end of the month/beginning of the following month. Click here to see a list of the active classes!

What operating system is on the library computers?

Currently, the library computers utilize the Windows 7 operating system.


When would a Computer Class be Cancelled / What if I can't make it to a class?

The library makes the decision to cancel a computer class if there is any inclement weather or another emergency. All patrons signed up for that class will be notified. Also, if you know you won't make a class, please call us and let us know you won't be able to make it.
